Shaheen Shah Afridi-led Pakistan Gold have qualified for the final of the National Champions Cup after defeating Pakistan Whites by five wickets in a thrilling contest at Multan Cricket Stadium.
Chasing a target of 173, Pakistan Gold reached 175 for five in 28 overs to secure a place in the final. Haider Ali played a crucial role in the successful chase, scoring an unbeaten 69 off 75 balls to guide his side through a challenging situation.
Pakistan Gold had endured a difficult start to the tournament, losing their opening two matches. However, they bounced back strongly when it mattered most, securing the win that ultimately gave them the net run-rate advantage over their rivals.
Earlier, Pakistan Whites struggled to post a big total after being put into bat. Gold’s bowling attack maintained pressure throughout the innings and restricted Whites to 172, giving their batters a manageable target.
The victory left Pakistan Gold, Pakistan Whites and Pakistan Blues level on points. Gold, however, progressed to the final thanks to their superior net run rate.
The result completes an impressive turnaround for Shaheen’s side, who now have the opportunity to end their campaign with the National Champions Cup trophy.
